Redding Real Estate

Redding, in the state of California, is the seat of the Shasta County. With a total land area or more than 150 square kilometers, Redding is considered as the biggest city to Sacramento’s north.

Redding lies on the Sacramento River, to the south of the Shasta Lake and Mt. Shasta. Redding experiences wet winters and hot summers. A number of neighborhoods make up the city of Redding. These include Downtown Redding, Shasta View Gardens, Buckeye, West Ridge, Stanford Hills, Miracle Mile, Parkview, Boulder Creek, Tierra Oaks and Spring Hill, to name just a few of them.

Nature plays a huge part in the attractiveness of the city of Redding. Endangered species of plants and grass have been seen in the area. Tourists often visit Lake Shasta and the Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Sacramento River Trail is also very popular among tourists.

There are a number of places one must not fail to visit when in Redding. Located in Auditorium Drive, the Turtle Bay Exploration Park is home to huge areas of botanical gardens. Turtle Bay Exploration Park also has a museum, where various exhibits on history and the arts are displayed. Turtle Bay Exploration Park is also where the famous Sundial Bridge can be found. Other interesting places in the city of Redding include the Library Park and the Cascade Theater. Mt. Shasta Mall is also a favorite spot for shopping and entertainment. There are some events that draw a lot of people to Redding every year. These include the Redding Rodeo and the Kool April Nites, an exhibition of hot rods.

Educational institutions are dotted all over the city. A number of elementary schools and middle schools can be found in the area. There are also 4 universities and colleges in the city of Redding. These include the Simpson University, the National University, the Shasta College and the Shasta Bible College and Graduate School.

The economy in the city of Redding is centered around several industries, namely tourism, legal, medical and retail. Of these, retail is the one that is growing most rapidly. In recent years, Redding has been trying to provide more industrial jobs to their residents.

A recent report revealed that among all the metropolitan areas in the state of California, The city of Redding was one of the most affordable places for real estate. This was based on the NAHB/Wells Fargo index, which determines what portion of the homes that were sold in the area a family with a median income is able to afford.

At present, there are over 2,000 houses being sold all over Redding. At this rate, buyers are given more options to choose from. At the same time, they are able to negotiate better and longer, as the prices of the real estate in Redding have been going down significantly. At the same time, more and more incentives are being given to home buyers, such as upgrades and renovations.
